The course covers in a technical and intensive way solar photovoltaic systems isolated from the electricity grid (autonomous) and systems connected to the electrical grid.

Autonomous systems are mainly used in places without access to the electricity grid, so they use batteries to store the energy generated during the day by the panels, being able to operate autonomously.

Some applications of autonomous systems are:
Backup or “back up” systems for power outages.
Residential or industrial systems in places where there is no electricity grid.
Water pumping and/or irrigation systems.
Various uses such as beacons, emergency poles, cell phone chargers, etc.

On the other hand, grid-connected systems need the mains for their operation. The energy generated during the day is used at the moment, which produces a saving due to the decrease in the daytime demand for energy from the electricity grid. In case of an excess of energy production, it is injected into the electricity grid, counting through a bidirectional meter, with the possibility of generating economic benefits.

The main economic benefits of networked systems are:

Savings on the electricity bill.
Sale of surplus daytime energy.
